Transfer was mostly smooth

I used Wise to send money to my family in India last week. The transfer itself went through within 2 days, which was pretty good, faster than some services I've used before. The exchange rate I got was very close to what they advertised, which was a relief since I've had issues with hidden fees elsewhere. I did have a small problem verifying my ID, it took a couple of tries for the system to accept my document scan. Customer support was helpful, they got back to me within a few hours to explain what was needed. The fees were clear upfront, no surprises there. Overall, I'd say the process was efficient once I got past the ID verification hiccup.

Got my money to family overseas

Needed to send some cash to my sister in Germany. Used Wise for the first time. It was pretty easy to set up, just followed the steps on the site. The money got there in a few days, which was what they said it would be. No big fuss or anything, worked out fine.

Good rates, slow support

I've used Wise a few times now for international transfers. The exchange rates are consistently good, much better than my bank. My most recent transfer to Mexico went through without a hitch, money arrived in about 3 days. However, I had a question about a previous transaction, and customer service took over 24 hours to respond. It wasn't urgent, but a faster reply would have been better. Still, for the rates and ease of setting up a transfer, it's a solid option.

Always reliable for payments

I've been using Wise for about two years now to pay international freelancers, and they're consistently reliable. This last batch payment I did was no different. The process is always straightforward, and the money gets where it needs to go within the estimated time, usually faster. I appreciate that I don't have to worry about fluctuating rates or hidden fees, it's why I keep coming back. They've made international business payments much less of a headache for me.

Saved money on my first transfer

This was my first time using Wise to send money to the UK. I found a referral link online which gave me a fee-free transfer up to a certain amount, which was a nice saving. The exchange rate was better than what my bank offered. It felt like good value for my money, and the transfer arrived pretty quickly.

How does Wise compare to Revolut for international spending? Especially the debit card aspect.

I Ian W. 2 weeks ago
Both are good, but I find Wise generally has slightly better rates for actual transfers and more transparent fees. Revolut is good too, but sometimes their free tier has limits or weekend markups.

Wise card is great, no foreign transaction fees. Never used Revolut much for transfers, but for just spending abroad, they're both pretty solid from what I hear. Wise just feels more straightforward to me.

How long does it usually take for money to get to Europe with Wise? Need to pay for something kinda urgently.

A Ashley Lee 4 weeks ago
Depends on the country and when you send it, but usually a day or two. Sometimes even within hours if it's a major currency.

Mine took like 3 hours to Germany last week. Really quick. You can even see a tracking thing for it.

Hey, thinking about sending some money to my sister in the UK. Does Wise actually use the real exchange rate or do they sneak in a markup like other services?

A Ashley Thompson 2 weeks ago
Nah, they're pretty transparent about it. It's the mid-market rate, same one you see on Google. Only thing is a small fee on top, but it's usually way less than banks.

Yeah, I've checked it against XE before transferring, always been spot on. No surprises, which is nice.

Thinking of getting the Wise debit card. Is it really free to order in the US or do they sneak in a shipping fee or something?

O Olivia Allen 3 weeks ago
The card itself usually has a small one-time fee to order, but it's not a subscription or anything. Check their site for the exact amount, it's not much.

I had to pay like 9 bucks for mine a while back. So not technically 'free' to order, but there are no monthly fees after that.

Are there any current free transfer deals for new users? I saw something about a referral link but wasn't sure if it's still active.

D Donna M. 1 week ago
Yep, definitely. Find someone who uses it and ask for their referral link. That's how I got my first one free. Saves a few bucks on fees.

I think those referral links are pretty much always on. Just make sure to use the link, not a code or anything, it applies automatically.
